WHAT DOES CBD DO FOR SKIN?

CBD is an amazing ingredient for skin and for beauty and we really believe in the power of CBD. What differentiates us are a couple of things:

CBD is a key ingredient that dials down stress effects on skin and induces calm We use only US-grown, Organic Broad Spectrum CBD in our products and we invest to have a fully clean extraction process (using CO2 vs. solvents which can cause contamination). Then, and we think this is really important – we triple lab-test with 3rd party, independent ISO labs so you can be confident that every product contains the CBD mg it says on the label, and we will make all our testing fully transparent so consumers can trace every batch

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY CLEAN BEAUTY?

‘Clean’ for us was an absolute must, as was Cruelty-free and Vegan, so to be clean was really table stakes. What we wanted to create were products that really carried the highest standards of clean and we’ve done that in a number of ways:

Eliminating Toxins – Our products are 97-99% natural and meet the highest standards of clean – not only are they Clean @ Sephora but also in line with the toughest standards in the industry, meeting the Follain 101 and Credo Clean Standards. We’ve eliminated over 1200 ingredients we consider toxic or harmful from our formulations, from known nasties.

Transparency – The other piece that’s important to us in clean is our transparency. We follow the more stringent European labelling regulations so we list every ingredient on our INCI lists – with no exceptions. Often in the US toxic ingredients can be hidden under the 1% level – by following European guidelines we ensure our products are significantly cleaner – and in fact our final formulations go beyond US regulation to meet all European ingredient and product transparency legislation too

ARE YOUR FRAGRANCES CLEAN?

We chose to include a fragrance in our skincare products as it was really important to us to deliver a calming experience and fragrance can do so much in terms of calming and soothing. In developing the fragrance however there were a couple of must-have’s for us:

It had to be clean, cruelty-free and Vegan – Again we went beyond the clean standards and did a global search for a fragrance house that could deliver a beautiful fragrance from a significantly reduced ingredient palette before finding our fragrance partner, a small US-based fragrance house specializing in naturals

It had to be allergen-free – What makes our fragrance completely unique is it is completely hypo-allergenic. There are 26 allergens commonly listed in skincare fragrances and our fragrance contains ZERO – our formulation house asked for our paperwork 2 x over as they’d never seen it before and didn’t believe it!

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY RESPONSIBLE SOURCING?

It was important to us that across our entire supply chain (from our ingredients to our formulation and fragrance houses to our packaging) that we would be creating our products in a sustainable and responsible way. This comes to life in a couple of different ways:

Responsible Material Sourcing – We have worked with all our raw material / ingredient suppliers to ensure our materials are responsibly and ethically sourced, meaning:

Our sources are always sustainable – we are fully compliant with the Nagoya protocol which protects bio-diversity, meaning we use ‘nature-identical’ materials where necessary to harness the best of nature without depleting natural sources

Our Sources are always ethical – We have no conflict minerals / mineral colourants and all our suppliers are regularly vetted to ensure ethical sourcing practises, including no child labour.

Sustainable Packaging Sourcing – Sustainability is very important to our company and thus we have worked very hard to deliver beautiful packaging that is also fully sustainable:

Our launch range is over 90% sustainable - incorporating sugar cane tubes, glass jars / bottles and serum droppers and paper sachets, with 100% recyclable cartons printed with bio-degradable soy-based ink.

From H2 2021 we will become fully sustainable with the migration of our airless pumps to PCR.

Always ethically sourced – As with our skincare we fully vet our suppliers to ensure they comply with good manufacturing practise, including quality control, worker safety and no child labour.

What is broad spectrum hemp?

Broad Spectrum Hemp Oil - Hemp Oil Extract that contains CBD, other cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes and fatty acids working in sync with your body, as nature intended. Importantly it contains undetectable levels of THC. At Loum we only use broad spectrum CBD, which contains less than 0.0% THC (undetectable levels) and publish lab tests for every product we produce so you can be confident about knowing exactly what is in the product you are using.

IS ANIMAL TESTING PERFORMED ON ANY OF Loum’s PRODUCTS?

At Loum Beauty, we are proud to say that we are a cruelty-free-certified by the Cruelty Free International. We do not engage in animal testing. As leaders in the skincare science industry, we consider it our charge to continually innovate new and effective ways to test products without the use of animals, relying instead on advanced testing methodologies that are strictly cruelty-free. We thoroughly investigate each of the ingredients used in our products, selecting only the finest materials from facilities that measure their results with high-tech machinery instead of animals.

I AM PREGNANT/NURSING CAN I USE YOUR PRODUCTS?

For best advice during pregnancy and nursing please consult with your physician.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS NON-COMEDOGENIC?

All of our products are tested for effectiveness before they can be considered to be part of the Loum Beauty line. These formulas are created with a synergy of actives and botanicals to provide the clarity your skin needs without the dryness and irritation that can often times be the unfortunate result of using some products for oily and acne prone skin.

Some products contain acids, which go through pores and draws it out to the skin’s surface to be sloughed off. This action clears pores, eliminating any clogging. If you have a high tendency to develop clogged pores but need a moisturizer, we do offer a gel moisturizer for oily skin.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN FRAGRANCE?

Our products contain allergen free fragrances.

HOW CAN I FIND THE EXPIRATION DATE ON MY PRODUCT?

Please check the bottom of the container/jar or crimped area of the tube for a “lot” or “batch” number and send us an email request with the information, along with the product purchased to customerservice@loumbeauty.com and we will reply as soon as possible.

ARE Loum Beauty’s PRODUCTS GLUTEN FREE?

Like many companies, we often purchase ingredients from outside suppliers, and the components of these substances are proprietary information belonging to those companies. Therefore, it's possible that a very small amount (generally parts per million) of gluten may be present. Consumers will find ingredient listings on our packaging material, in accordance with FDA regulations, using names which are standard throughout the cosmetic industry. Because of the vast number of raw materials from different sources, it is not possible to guarantee that our products are completely free of any of the grains specified.

HOW TO LAYER SKINCARE PRODUCTS?

When layering products keep this rule in mind, start with the lightest weight (serums, gels) then middle weight (lotions) then heavier (creams) followed by SPF.

Generally you want to wait at least a minute or two between applications to ensure that your skin has had enough time to absorb all of the previous product before moving on to the next for best results.

HOW LONG SHOULD THE PRODUCTS LAST?

Loum’s products are intended to last 4-6 weeks long, depending on how many times a day you apply the product. For masks and exfoliators up to 8 weeks.

WHAT IS THE QUALITY LIFETIME OF Loum’s PRODUCTS?

Our products have a 2 year shelf life from date of manufacture. We produce small quantities at a time, so you should feel certain that the Loum beauty products you purchase are fresh. Once a jar or container is opened, we suggest six month's time for best freshness quality.
